Connecting the Dots: From Treatment to Hospice

Providing Healthcare for the Homeless

March 6th, 2014

Keynote: Roger A. Ray, MD

Executive Vice President and Chief Medical Officer

Carolinas Healthcare System

Charlotte’s Samaritan House welcomes Dr. Roger A. Ray as keynote speaker at its annual luncheon, Thursday, March 6th 2014 from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM at Covenant Presbyterian Church. The facility at 1000 East Morehead Street provides free parking via lot entrance on Arosa Avenue, next to the Church.

Each year, Charlotte’s hospitals and clinics treat hundreds of homeless persons. What does it mean to treat someone with an injury, chronic or terminal disease who has no housing, transportation to medical follow up appointments or family support for healing? Who bears the cost and how will resources for care be affected by the Affordable Care Act. Dr. Ray will cover these questions and more through a comprehensive overview of the treatment path and cost concerns associated with the homeless ill.
